Late-Breaking Research at CHI 2025

latebreaking

Late-breaking is a type of breaking news story. Until 24-hour television news networks became common, news programs would only interrupt their regular programming to break serious news stories such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Television stations would then use lower thirds and alert crawls during regular programming to inform viewers of important news. In recent years, 24-hour news channels have started to air Special Reports that highlight key breaking news stories.

Accepted Late Breaking Works (LBW) will be published as CHI Extended Abstracts in the ACM Digital Library. LBW submissions should include (1) an extended abstract in the ACM Master Article Submission Templates (up to 8 pages excluding references) and (2) an optional appendix. LBW presentations at CHI 2025 will be held on Monday and Tuesday in the poster hall.

LBWs should describe research that is novel, of critical importance to the research community and/or public, and has become available for public dissemination after the deadline for the regular abstract submission process. The LBW should also provide results that are significantly more compelling than previously published or presented work.
